After tanning process can we use pig leather ?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org
There are different views about the use of pig leather. One of my friend stresses that it is not “najis” after tanning process. He quotes one hadees from Bukhari narrated by Hazarat Ali R.A. Although I have heard from an Alim of Ahlay Sunnah that it is najis but I don’t know the Ahadees or Quranic verses from which it can be proved najis. I therefore request you to deliberate on this issue in detail.
According to the Hadith in bukhari and other books if someone tans a skin of an animal then that skin becomes pure except for swine. Every rule has some exceptions, so any animal who’s skin is tanned including those that are forbidden from consumption is purified, such as cheetah, lion etc., but not pig’s skin.

If an animal have been slaughtered in a way other then that of Shariah then it’s also permissible to use after it’s been tanned.
