Which party to vote for election in UK

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org
On June 10th 2004, people in the UK will be able to vote for local elections. There is a new political party called “RESPECT” which is led by George Galloway. They are relatively anti-war and pro-Muslim, and have quite a few Muslim candidates in their party. We Muslims are confused as to whether we can vote for them or not. We realize it is a mainly non-muslim party. But on the other hand, a different party called the BNP is gaining many many votes. They are a racist party and are very anti-Muslim. Some of the Muslims here are throwing around the notion of “lesser of two evils” and saying we should vote for RESPECT. Others are saying that if we don’t vote at all, then the BNP will win seats and it will be a difficult situation here for Muslims. But others are saying we shouldn’t vote at all. What should the Muslims do on June 10th?
