Killing innocent in the name of mazhab ?

Recently there have been a lot of violence in the name of Mazhab in Karachi. The innocent Hazrat Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzi was assassinated on Sunday. He was the Head Mufti of Jamia Binoria Karachi. What is the fate of people who kill in the name of Mazhab. Are not they doing damage to Islam?
