AsSalaam Alykum,
I am a resident of Northbrook, IL. We have Islamic center in Northbrook, named ICC, Islamic Cultural Center. This center is the closest center from my house. Local mussalli’s praying towards, East, instead of NE direction. to be specific approximately 42 degrees off.
Local musalli’s tried to convince, center of Imam to correct qibla direction and pray towards, NE, However, they are not agree to change.
Question – Can we pray in the center towards East or about 42 degree off of NE direction. Is this acceptable?
Please advice.
Jazakallah
الجواب وبالله التوفيق
If the deviation from the actual direction of qibla is less than 45 degrees, it does not invalidate the salah and the salah is considered correctly performed. You can suggest bettering this situation only if there is no fear of fitnah as a result. Otherwise continue praying in the same situation.
واللہ اعلم بالصواب
