My question is about my job. I joined a job at a hospital in the UAE in February 2019. My job title is Insurance Coordinator. The patients at our hospital get treatment with their Insurance Card. It is comulsory here by the Government to have the insurance. Once a patient gets treatment on his insurance card we convert his treatment into a numbering, e.g., Hypertention 10, Diabetes E11.9, etc. This is called medical coding. This way I convert the disease name from text to numbering and submit the bill for payment to the national insurance company. That insurance company after checking the bill transfers the treatment amount to the bank. Please advise whether this job is permissible for me or not, is it Halal for me or not, whether I can continue working at this job or not?

Though this job is not permissible, however, there is this much flexibility that if the employee has financial constraint then he should not quit this job at once. He should continue searching for other job and keep seeking forgiveness from Allaah T’alaa. As soon as he finds another job then he should quit it.
