How Do I Repent and Clean My Mouth After Tasting My Own Sexual Fluids?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org
Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Question

I tasted my sexual fluids (madhi) 2 to 4 times, or maybe it will be semen because I have some medical issues.

During masturbation, I am so sorry to ask you this, but as a Muslim, I am feeling ashamed of myself now. How can I purify myself and my mouth after doing so, and what is ruling on it? Please answer me as soon as possible.

Answer

Walaikum Assalam,

I hope you’re doing well, insha’Allah.

Rinsing your mouth once was sufficient, with repentance.

The fact that you regret what you did is itself a sure sign of you wanting to repent (tawba).

Sincere repentance has three aspects: (1) remorse for disobeying Allah; (2) leaving the sin; and (3) resolve not to return to it, to the best of one’s ability—for the sake of Allah Most High. [Nawawi, al-Adhkar]

Allah Most High calls us, “Repent to Allah, O believers—all of you—in order for you to attain true success.” [Quran, 24.31]

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The one who repents from sin is like one who never sinned.” [Ibn Maja]

In fact, repentance is an opportunity to return to Allah, and to make one’s life devoted to seeking Allah’s Pleasure and Closeness, after the pain of sin and distance.

Imam Qushayri (Allah have mercy upon him) writes, “Repentance is the first station of the stations of those who journey to Allah; and the first rank in the ranks of those seeking Allah. The reality of repentance (tawba) in Arabic is return… Thus, repentance is returning from all that is blameworthy according to religious guidance to all that is praiseworthy…” [Qushayri, Risala]

The Filth

Masturbation itself isn’t permissible, and one must take the means of avoiding it, and breaking related sinful habits.

How Can I Overcome My Habit of Masturbation?

It is also sinful to consume any sexual fluids or filth (najasa). If any gets into one’s mouth, one must spit it out, and rinse out one’s mouth. [Tahtawi/Shurunbulali, Hashiyat Maraqi al-Falah]

And Allah is the giver of success and facilitation.
