Valid Oriental prayer carpet?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I wanted to know if it’s permissible to pray on an oriental carpet which has an outline of a peacock as part of its design? If not, then is it sufficient to place a prayer rug (jaanimaz) on top of the oriental carpet?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Wa Alaykum Assalam wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu,

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful & Compassionate

Such a carpet would be permitted.

From a previous question:

What is strongly impermissible is to draw the entire human body with all its details, or the face and neck with all its details (except when necessary for immediate educational purposes and the like).

Faraz Rabbani.
