Multi Level Marketing

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Is this kind of selling permissible? In some places it is known as ‘multi level networking’. Typical companies that employ this kind of selling are e.g. Amway, Herbalife etc.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

Those that have genuine and permissible products or services that are being offered, and whose contractual agreements are not fundamentally contrary to the Shariah would be permitted; those that don’t (such as pyramid schemes), aren’t.

And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani
