Wearing gloves in prayer

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I have been told wearing gloves during winter whilst performing Salaah is prohibited? I do not see why but I wish to clear up this matter.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits.

In the Hanafi school, it is in itself better to pray with one’s hands uncovered–though there is nothing improper in keeping on one’s gloves when there is a reason, such as cold weather. (Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah)

And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani
