Printing Fatwas From My College Lab

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Mufti Yusuf Mullan

Sometimes I like to print out fatwas, so since I don’t have a printer at home I print it out at my college computer lab. I was wondering if I was stealing because when I asked the employee how much was the print outs she said it’s free, and I can only print out up to 20. But what if it’s only free for school assignments and not for personal use?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the name of Allah,ar-Rahman, ar-Raheem and may his abundant blessings be showered on the best of creation, Mohammed, our master, his family and companions.

Printing any materiel which is not course related or considered permitted to print will require express permission from whoever is authorized to give such permission. Simply asking the employee in charge will not suffice. If permission is not obtained, printing will not be permissible.

And Allah knows best.
