What to do with things purchased with earnings from interest dealings?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

As for the person whose earnings came from interest dealings, what does he do with all the things he has bought with that money, and the money itself? Is it haraam for him to use it? he is a friend of mine so I’m asking more from his point of view. he has repented from his sins and has completely turned his life around in terms of job (he now works for an Islamic bank) and way of life. but he is confused about his money and possessions earned from interest dealings. he has expressed his willingness to do the right thing, whatever the price, but practically speaking the vast majority of his money and possessions were earned from interest dealings.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

The possessions themselves are halal. What must be done, however, is get rid of the extent of the haram money from one’s wealth/money.

How to do this is explained below.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
