Performing salaah behind the imaam in Musjid Namirah during hajj

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Can a musaafir pray in Masjid-e-Namirah and Masjid-e-Khair during hajj , as the imaam there offers only 2 rakaats irrespective of whether he is a muqeem or a musaafir as their madhab says to read only 2 rakaats during hajj?

Bismillaah

A: If the imaam is a musaafir, and he performs two rakaats, you can perform salaah behind him if you are a musaafir. If you are a muqeem, then after he completes two rakaats, you will have to stand up and complete the remaining two rakaats. However, if the imaam is a musaafir and he performs four rakaats, you cannot perform salaah behind him if you are a musaafir. Similarly, if the imaam is a muqeem (not a musaafir) and performs two rakaats, you cannot perform salaah behind him.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
