Is the following a Quranic ayah or a dua from Hadith?
Ya Muqallibal Quloob, Thabbit Qalbi Alaa Deenik
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
The du’aa in reference is established from the Ahadith of Rasulullaah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Hereunder is the du’aa and the reference:
كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يكثر أن يقول: يا مقلب القلوب ثبت قلبي على دينك، فقلت: يا رسول الله، آمنا بك وبما جئت به فهل تخاف علينا؟ قال: نعم، إن القلوب بين أصبعين من أصابع الله يقلبها كيف يشاء.[1]
Translation: Sayyiduna Anas (Radhiyallaahu ‘anh) narrates that Rasulullaah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) would frequently recite:
“Yaa muqallibal quloob, thabbit qalbee ‘alaa deenik”
(O Changer of the Hearts! Strengthen my heart upon Your Deen).
Sayyiduna Anas (Radhiyallaahu ‘anh) says, “I asked him, ‘We have brought faith in you and in what you have brought, do you still fear for us?’ He replied, ‘Yes! Indeed the hearts are between two Fingers of Allaah’s Fingers, He changes them as He wills.’” (Tirmidhi 2140)
