Working for UberEats

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: In Canada, food delivery jobs are very common. I work for UberEats wherein I get order details on my phone screen. (Pick Up and Drop Off Address) Sometimes these food orders contain haraam food, but my job is to just collect the food from the restaurant and deliver it to the customer. I don’t get to know the food details before accepting the order. I also don’t touch the food, as it is packed and placed into a bag.

Will this type of earning be halaal for me?

Bismillaah

A: If you are able to find out, then you should do so. If you are not able to find out and you know that the food outlet sells haraam food, then you should not do deliveries for such an outlet.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
