Can I Join My Prayers If I Work in Customer Service?

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question:

I work in customer services. Can I join prayers?

Answer:

Wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Dear questioner,

Thank you for your important question.

Being in customer service does not allow one to join prayers. Just as any employee has a right to a bathroom break or a lunch break, there is no reason why you cannot organize with your employer to take 5 mins to pray your obligatory prayer.

If the issue is that you only have a very, very small time to pray Dhuhr or Asr (say only 30 mins) because it is winter time and you live in a polar region, then there would be some room for that.

I pray this helps.
