Not getting married due to fear of the responsibilities of nikaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it OK to not get married. It’s not that I find anything wrong with getting married, it’s just that I feel that I won’t be able to manage with the responsibilities of marriage, etc.

Bismillaah

A: Marriage is an emphasised sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). The Hadith has encouraged getting married if one has the ability to do so. However, if one feels that one will be unable to fulfil the obligations and responsibilities of nikaah and one feels confident that through not getting married one will not fall into sin, then it is permissible for one not to get married.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
