Fear of husband making kufr statements

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My husband is depressed because he is with his father in his buisness and his father does some haraam dealings. He doesnt want to be left with the haraam business after his father dies but doesnt know what else to do. In a depressing state about the situation he made comments such as:

This is a lesson I dont deserve

Theres no hope, I’m forced into doing wrong

I’m not a bad person

And a few others where he is basically saying that he doesn’t deserve what he is getting. Is the above comments kufar?

Bismillaah

A: If he means that he is not responsible for his father’s actions then these are not words of kufr.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Q: I would also like to add that my husband could have said more comments and I can’t remember them. Will I be responsible if he said kufar comments and I cant remember them? I tried my best to state more or less what I remember

Bismillaah

A: If you are absolutely certain that he made kufr statements then by such statements a person becomes a kaafir and one cannot be in the marriage of a kaafir.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
