Children spending their own money on the day of Aashuraa

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Spending on one’s family on the day of Aashuraa, please give clarity who should spend? Should my children age 8, 14 and 19 be encouraged to spend out of their pocket money on our family?

Bismillaah

A: Children who are not of age are not allowed to give out charities of their own money; You may give them some wealth and ask them to spend on others. Hence, the wealth will be yours and they will just be the medium to pass it on to others.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
