Qurbaani on behalf of one’s minor children

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I pray Allah Ta’ala keeps you in good health and gives you the strength to carry on with you’re work in Deen. I wanted to know I do Qurbaani for me and my wife. My kids are approaching puberty. Do I have to give Qurabaani on their behalf and if they reach adult hood by next year inshallah then what do I do Qurbaani wise?

Bismillaah

A: It is not compulsory upon the father to do Qurbaani on behalf of his minor children. After becoming baaligh, if they possess wealth to the amount of nisaab during the days of Qurbaani, then Qurbaani will be compulsory upon them.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
