Question:
Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
Can women pray Salaat-ul-Janazah on their own? Can they participate in it, behind men? Can a woman pray Salaat-ul-Janazah-Ghaib by herself?
Jazakallahu Khairan,
Answer:
Females are only allowed to conduct the Janazah prayers if there are no males available. If there are men folk who will conduct the prayers then it will not be permissible for them to perform on their own as this will lead to repetition of the Salaah, which is not supported by the Shari’ah according to the Hanafi school of thought.

It is Makrooh Tahrimi (odious) for women to participate in the Janazah prayers behind men.
(Ad-Durrul Mukhtaar Vol. 2 Page 305)
According to the Hanafi school of thought Salaatul Ghaib is not permissible for both males and females. One should however continue making Du’aa for the deceased.
