I am currently living in brazil and sent someone to buy fish for me the other day, well he came back and prepared the fish for me, I then ate it, because fish is Halaal, later I told him that the fish was really nice, what kind of fish was it?? he told me, fish, it was “RAIO” which is in English I think sting ray (I am not to sure of the spelling, is it permissible to eat this?

A sting ray is a large cartilaginous fish of the family Dasyatidae or Urolophidae, having a flattened diamond shaped body and a long poisonous serrated spine at the base of the tail. (The Concise Oxford Dictionary, Ninth Edition, Page 1369. Since it is described as a fish in the following dictionary it will be permissible to eat.
