Question:

Assalamualaikum

Q1-Does dam become Waajib if a person bites nails in Ihram?

Q2-What is the dam for biting nails in Ihram?

Q3-If a non mature child does a Jinaayat in Ihram is dam Waajib?

Q4-If a persons hair is shorter than a fingers joint is it permissible to shave the hair with a hair cutting machine?

Answer:

 

                  

1.      It is not permissible for one to clip his nails in condition of Ihram. However, if one has to clip or bite his nails in Ihram then in some cases only one Dam will become Waajib while in other cases up to 4 Dams can become Waajib. Sometimes only a Sadaqah will become Waajib.

Kindly inform us as to how many nails were clipped or bitten and were they clipped in one   sitting or a few different sittings.

2.      There is no Dam on a non-mature child and neither does it become Waajib on his/her guardians. (Mu’allimul Hujjaj, Page 225)

3.      If the hair is less than one finger joint then it will be Waajib to shave it with a razor. A hair cutting machine will only trim the hair and not shave it therefore one must use a razor. (Raddul Muhtaar, Vol. 2, Page 198, Mu’allimul Hujjaj, Page 176)
