Are the Saints – اولیاء اللہ – alive in their graves?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria

Are the Saints – اولیاء اللہ – alive in their graves?

الجواب حامدا و مصلیا

When a deceased is buried the soul is connected with the body to the extent that it could feel the rewards and punishments; comforts and pains, which is called the Hayath e Barzakhi (purgatorial life). This life is common for saints and non saints however the life of a saint is stronger than a mundane person and the strongest life is that of Anbiya Alaihimus Salaam. But it does not mean that presenting oneself in their graves is to seek his needs directly from them as is the practice of the Ahl e Bid’ath, because doing so is so called Shirk and it is incumbent to refrain from it

Allah knows best.
