Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by IslamicPortal.co.uk

Compensation from Bank

Question

I made a compliant to Lloyd’s bank for the very bad customer service. The bank offered me £25 due to this as well as £10 for the cost of the call. Is this money lawful?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

Answer

The money is lawful, as it is a form of tabarruʿ (gift). However, given the source, you may prefer to donate it to charity.
