I travelled from A (home) to B (25 miles). I then travelled to C (20 miles) and then returned to B (20 miles). I finally returned to A (25 miles). I had made intention for this travel plan on leaving A. What would be the ruling for Qasr in this scenario?

Answer
You will not shorten Ṣalāh. A person becomes a musāfir (traveller) when two conditions are fulfilled: He leaves the town and at that point or any point thereafter he intends to travel 48/54.5 miles one way. As your distance of travel one way is less than this, you are not a traveller.
قال في الأصل (١/٢٦٥): قلت: أرأيت المسافر هل يقصر الصلاة في أقل من ثلاثة أيام؟ قال: لا، انتهى. وقال القدوري في مختصره (ص ٣٨): السفر الذي تتغير به الأحكام أن يقصد الإنسان موضا بينه وبين ذلك الموضع مسيرة ثلاثة أيام ولياليها بسير الإبل ومشي الأقدام، انتهى. وقال السمرقندي في التحفة (١/١٤٧): هو أن ينوي مدة السفر ويخرج من عمران المصر، فما لم يوجد هذان الشرطان لا يثبت في حقه أحكام السفر ورخصة المسافرين، انتهى. وفي فتاوى محموديه (١١/٥٦٢): یہ مسافت صرف ایک طرف کی ہے ، آنے اور جانے کی مجموعی مسافت نہیں۔
