Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Question

Kindly provide the reference and authenticity of the following narration:

Answer

Imams Bukhari, Muslim and others (rahimahumullah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu). The Hadith is therefore authentic.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3688 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2639)

Translation

Sayyiduna ‘Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) has narrated:

“A man came to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) and asked: “O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) when is Qiyamah [i.e. The Day of Judgement]?”

He replied: ‘What have you prepared for Qiyamah?’

The man answered: “The love of Allah and His messenger”

Rasulullah (sallalalhu ‘alayhi wasallam) said: ‘Then you will most certainly be with the ones that you love’”

Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “We have never experienced a joy after Islam more elating than the statement of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) ‘Then you will most certainly be with the ones that you love’”

Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) added: “I love Allah, His messenger, Abu Bakr and ‘Umar. Thus, I hope to be with them even though I have not done the same actions as them.”

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2639)

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
