Rajab is like the wind, Sha’ban like the clouds and Ramadan like the rain

Question

Can you mention the proper source and Arabic for this quote?

The example of the month of Rajab is like the wind, Sha’ ban like clouds and Ramadan like the rain

Answer

Hafiz Ibn Rajab Al Hambali (rahimahullah) has cited this as the statement of Imam Abu Bakr Al Warraq Al Balkhi (rahimahullah). I have not come across this narration in any primary source. Despite that, words of wisdom like these are suitable to cite for inspiration.

Imam Abu Bakr Al Warraq Al Balkhi (rahimahullah) said: “The example of the month of Rajab is like the wind, Sha’ban like the clouds and Ramadan like the rain.”

(Lataiful Ma’arif, pg. 218, Al Maktabul Islami edition)

Arabic text

مثل شهر رجب مثل الريح ومثل شعبان مثل الغيم ومثل رمضان مثل المطر
