Allah Ta’ala shows Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) Baytul Maqdis

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Question

Kindly provide the reference and authenticity of the Hadith where the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) could see Baytul Maqdis from Makkah when the Quraysh rejected his message.

Answer

Imams Bukhari, Muslim, and others (rahimahumullah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu ‘anhu). It is therefore authentic (Sahih).

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3886, and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 170)

Translation

Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu ‘anhu) has narrated that he heard Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) say:

‘When the Quraysh accused me of lying, I stood in the Hatim, and Allah Ta’ala showed me Baytul Maqdis. I then began to inform them of its features whilst looking at it.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3886)

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
