Sayyiduna ‘Umar’s praise for Sayyiduna Mu’adh (radiyallahu’anhuma)

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by

Is the following an authentic statement of Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu):

If it was not for Mu’adh (radiyallahu ‘anhu) then ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) would have been ruined.

This narration is recorded in the following sources, with a broken chain (as pointed out by Hafiz Ibn ‘Asakir):

Sunan Daraqutni, vol. 3 pg. 322 , Fawaidul ‘Attar; see Al-Isabah, vol. 3 pg. 427 and Tarikh Dimashq, vol. 58 pg. 422.

Despite the apparent defect in the chain, this is suitable for highlighting the merit of the Sahabi (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
