What is the status of the Hadith in which Ibn Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) comments on Surah Maidah, Aayah 44, claiming the kufr mentioned is kufr less than kufr

(1 narration being from al-Hakim’s Mustadrak and the other from Tafsir at-Tabari)?

Answer

The chains of Tabari and Hakim are reliable.

Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) said concerning his version:

This has an authentic (Sahih) chain.

(Al-Mustadrak, vol.2, pg.313)
