Virtue of spouses looking at each other with affection

Is this a Hadith?

When a husband enters his home and he and his wife both cast each other loving glances then Almighty Allah casts on both of them his glance of mercy

Answer

Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Al Khudri (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “When a man looks at his wife and she looks at him, Allah Ta’ala casts his glance of mercy on both of them and when the husband takes hold of her hand then their sins fall away from between their fingers”.

(At Tadwin Fi Akhbari Qazwin of ‘Allamah Rafi’i, vol. 2 pg. 47)

There is a narrator in the above hadith who has been declared by many Muhaddithun as a liar and fabricator. This Hadith is therefore not suitable to be quoted.

(See Lisanul Mizan, vol. 2 pg. 181)

A recent Moroccan scholar, Shaykh Ahmad Siddiq Al Ghumari (rahimahullah) has classified the narration in question as baseless and a fabrication (baatilun Mawdu’)

(Al Mudawi, vol. 2 pg. 388)

And Allah Ta’ala knows best

Some people have mistakenly attributed this Hadith to Sahih Bukhari and Sunan Tirmidhi. That is incorrect.
