Why did Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) miss some salah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

What are the explanations for a few salah of Rasulullah (salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) being made “qadha” during the battle of the trench?

Answer

The commentators of Hadith give the following explanations:

1) This was due to the Muslim army being engaged in the thick of the battle. It was impossible to stop and offer salah. (this is Imam Bukhari’s (rahimahullah) view too)

2) By this time, tayammum was not yet endorsed by shari’ah, and the army couldn’t locate water in time to offer their salah. (So they had no option but to delay till they found water)

3) The salah were missed forgetfully, and one is excused in such a case.
