Is this narration authentic?

عن رجل من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، أن رجلا قال: يا رسول الله، ما بال المؤمنين يفتنون في قبورهم إلا الشهيد؟ قال: كفى ببارقة السيوف على رأسه فتنة

Answer

Imam Nasai (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith.

(Sunan Nasai; Al Mujtaba, Hadith: 2053)

‘Allamah ‘Azizi (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic.

(As Sirajul Munir, vol. 3 pg. 81. Also see: Targhib, vol. 2 pg. 324 and Kanzul ‘Ummal, Hadith: 11741)

Translation

A man once said, “O Messenger of Allah! Why is it that all Believers will be put through trial in their graves except the martyr?’ Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied: “The flash of the sword on his head has sufficed him.’”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
