A Sahabiyyah who suffered from epilepsy

I have heard about a Sahabiyah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) at the time of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) with epilepsy. Kindly quote the Hadith.

Answer

‘Ata ibn Abi Rabah reports, Once Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) asked me, “Should I show you a woman from the people of Jannah? ‘Certainly’, ‘ I answered. He said, ‘This black woman came to Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and said, ‘I suffer from epilepsy/fits during which I become uncovered, so make du’a for me.’

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: ‘If you wish, you can exercise patience and Jannah is guaranteed for you or if you wish, I will make du’a that Allah heal you.’ She said, ‘I will exercise patience, however, I become exposed, so make du’a that this does not happen.’ Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) made this du’a.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 5652 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2576)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
