Hajj and ‘Umrah an alternative to Jihad

Can you reference this narration?

“Jihad for the elderly, the weak and the woman is Hajj and ‘Umrah.”

Answer:

Imams Nasai, Ahmad (rahimahumallah) and other Muhaddithun have recorded this Hadith.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“The jihad for the elderly, weak and women is Hajj and ‘Umrah.”

(As Sunanul Kubra of Imam Nasai, Hadith: 3592 and Musnad Ahmad, vol. 2 pg. 421)

‘Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) has declared the chain of Imam Nasai sound (hasan).

(Targhib, vol. 2 pg. 105)

In another version of the Hadith, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “The jihad for the elderly, minors, weak and women is Hajj and ‘Umrah.”
