A narration regarding learning languages other than Arabic

Is this narration authentic?

It was narrated that ‘Ata said:

“Do not learn the languages of the non-Arabs and do not enter upon them in their churches, for the Divine wrath is descending upon them.”

Answer

Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration as the statement of ‘Ata ibn Dinar (rahimahullah).

(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 26806)

Imams ‘Abdur Razzaq and Bayhaqi (rahimahumallah) have recorded this narration as the statement of Sayyiduna ‘Umar ibnul Khattab (radiyallahu ‘anhu). ‘Ata ibn Dinar (rahimahullah) reported that Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said:

“Do not learn the languages of the non-Arabs and do not enter upon them in their churches on their day of celebration, for the [Divine] wrath is descending upon them.”

(Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq, Hadith: 1609, As Sunanul Kubra, vol. 9 pg, 234)

Hafiz Ibn Kathir (rahimahullah) has declared the chain of Bayhaqi authentic (sahih).

(Musnadul Faruq, Hadith: 674, vol. 2 pg. 344)
