The famous incident of Farrukh (rahimahullah)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Is the story regarding Farrukh authentic? He was the father of Rabi ‘atur Rai and went in the path of Allah for twenty seven years and when returned his son was the leading scholar of Madinah.

Is this suitable to quote or not?

Answer

This incident is unauthentic and should not be quoted, as declared by ‘Allamah Dhahabi (rahimahullah) in detail.

He also said: ‘This incident is amazing, but fabricated!’

After concurring with the above verdict, Shaykh ‘Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah (rahimahullah) has cautioned that unfortunately many writers have been deceived into accepting this incident as reliable.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
