An additional reward in some versions of the bazar du’a

Please can you confirm whether the below is a Hadith and if the reference is correct?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whosoever recites the du’a for the market place will receive one million rewards, one million of his sins will be wiped out and his ranks will be raised a million times. Further more a place will be built for him in Jannah” (Tirmidhi)

Answer

Yes, this is a Hadith recorded in Sunan Tirmidhi and other Hadith collections.

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3482)

This additional virtue of ‘his rank will be raised by one million stages’ is also recorded in the following sources, among others:

  1. Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 1 pg. 538/539
  2. Sunan Darimi, Hadith: 2734

The du’a is as follows:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ المُلْكُ وَلَهُ الحَمْدُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ، وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ، بِيَدِهِ الخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu yuhyi wa yumitu wahuwa hayyun la yamutu biyadihil khayru wahuwa ‘ala kulli shay in qadir.
