A narration stating that the angels embrace those who arrive for Hajj walking

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by

What is the authenticity of the following Hadith?

Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Verily the angels shake hands with the hajis arriving in Makkah mounted [on a conveyance] and embrace those arriving on foot.”

Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith in Shu’abul Iman. However, the chain consists of an unreliable narrator.

(Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 3805. Refer: Mizanul I’tidal, vol. 4 pg. 299/300, number: 7867, Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 2124 and Al Mudawi, Hadith: 983)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
