Allah Ta’ala detests grandiloquence

Please give me the source for this narration:

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Indeed Allah detests the excessively eloquent among men, who slaps his tongue around like the cow slaps his tongue”

Answer

Imams Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith. Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith sound (hasanun gharib).

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2853, Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4966. Also see: Footnotes of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah on Musannaf, Hadith: 26822)

This Hadith discourages unnecessary and forceful eloquence, where a person tries to show off, whilst looking down on others.

(Refer: Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 1849, Tuhfatul Ahwadhi, Hadith: 2853)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
