I have seen a Hadith that an increase in lightning bolts/thunder is a sign of Qiyamah. To the point a man will visit a tribe and they will say so and so was killed after being struck by lightening today.

Imam Ahmad, Imam Hakim and Imam Abush Shaykh Al Asbahani (rahimahumullah) have recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Al Khudri (radiyallahu ‘anhu). Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic.
