Knowledge which is not passed on is like a treasure which is hoarded

Kindly provide the reference for this narration:

Sayyiduna Salman Al Farisi (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said, “Knowledge which is not transmitted/spread is like a treasure which is hoarded.”

Answer

Imams Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, Darimi and Bayhaqi (rahimahumullah) have recorded this statement of Sayyiduna Salman Al Farisi (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah: 35810, Sunan Darimi, 574 and Al Madkhal, 1681)

Note: Imam Darimi, Imam Tabarani and other Muhaddithun have also recorded similar words as a Hadith of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

(Sunan Darimi, Hadith: 575, Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 1 pg. 164 and Al Matalibul ‘Aaliyah, Hadith: 3047)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
