‘Ali’s (radiyallahu ‘anhu) statement regarding what to do when a Hadith is reported to you

Is this Hadith authentic?

Sayyiduna ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “When a Hadith of  Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is related to you, you should think of the best [interpretation of it], think it to be the most guided, and the most righteous.”

Answer

Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahullah) has recorded this statement of Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 20)

‘Allamah Busiri (rahimahullah) has declared the chain authentic.

(Misbahuz Zujajah, vol. 1 pg. 99)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
