Trading after Jumu’ah Salah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

I have heard from someone, that if one reads the Jumu’ah Salah and thereafter proceeds to do some trade or business, there will be goodness in it for him.

Could you advise if this statement is found in a Hadith?

Answer

This is correct and is derived from the following verse of the Quran Karim:

‘Then when the Salah [of Jumu’ah] is terminated, disperse on earth and seek from Allah’s grace, and remember Allah frequently so that you may be successful.

(Surah Jumu’ah, Verse: 10)

‘Allamah Ibn Kathir (rahimahullah) has quoted ‘one of the pious predecessors’ to have said: ‘Whoever trades after Jumu’ah salah, will receive seventy times more barakah from Allah.’

He has also cited that the Sahabi; Sayyiduna ‘Irak ibn Malik (radiyallahu’anhu) would also seek his rizq (sustenance) after Jumu’ah.

(Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Surah Jumu’ah, Verse: 10)

Note: The above is one understanding of the verse cited. There are other interpretations as well.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
