The cut off point in time for accepting Islam

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

The cut off point for bringing Iman and tawbah is the rising of the sun from the west. In the following Hadith, Dajjal is mentioned which will appear before the rising of the sun from the west. What is the explanation?

Sahih Muslim, Kitabul Iman, Hadith: 398 (158).

Answer

Translation:

‘When three things occur, the Iman of a soul will not benefit it, if it did not already believe or do any good; [Those three things are]:

The rising of the sun from the west, Dajjal, and the creature of the earth.’

Explanation

This Hadith is explained to mean that once these three are completed, then Iman will no more be accepted, and these three will culminate with the sun’s rising from the west.

The final cut off point for Iman is when the sun rises from the west.

It is possible that on the same day, the creature of the earth will also emerge.

However, Dajjal would have emerged before these two.

In short, the cut off point for accepting Islam/Iman is at the culmination of these three things [not each one separately], the last of which will be the rising of the sun from the west and/or the emergence of the creature of the earth. Hence after these three have occurred, then the cut off time will set in.
