Is it possible to mention the full Hadith regarding Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) ordering the Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum) to carry out seven deeds?
Answer
The complete Hadith is as follows:
Sayyiduna Al Bara ibn ‘Azib (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) ordered us to do seven deeds and forbade us from doing the following seven deeds:
He ordered us to:
- Attend a funeral
- Visit the sick
- Accept an invitation
- Assist the oppressed
- Help the person who took an oath to fulfil his oath
- Reply the greeting (salam)
- Reply to the one [who praises Allah] after sneezing [by saying ‘YarhamukAllah’]
And he forbade us from:
- Wearing gold rings [for males]
- Drinking from [pure] silver utensils
- Using saddle blankets made of silk
- Wearing garments that have silk threads
- Wearing silk
- Wearing fine silk
- Wearing coarse silk [prohibition of all types of silk for males]
