Proof for spacing the surahs in salah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Is there any reference from the sunnah for the issue wherein the fuqaha say that it’s makrooh to leave 1 small surah in qisar mufassal during salah?

For example, if I recite surah lahab in the 1st rak’at, then in the second rak’at I cannot recite surah falaq because I will be leaving out 1 small surah in between.

I found the fatwa in shami but there is no mention of a Hadith.

So on what basis do we say it’s makrooh?

Answer

The Fuqaha have stated that the reason for this being makruh, is that it outwardly gives the impression of one abandoning or ignoring the single surah that was left out. If more than 1 surah was left, it doesn’t leave the same impression.

(Halabi Kabir, pg. 493-494)

We are not supposed to abandon any part of the Quran.

(see Surah Furqan, verse: 30)

The reliable Tabi’i, and the great, great, grandson of Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam); Abu Ja’far Al-Baqir (rahimahullah) said:

‘No part of the Quran is [to be] abandoned!’

(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, hadith: 6954)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
