Five deeds for a Friday

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Did you come across a Hadith wherein:

Jannah is given to a person who fasts on a Friday, attends a Janazah, visits the sick and gives charity?

Answer

Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Al-Khudry (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:

‘Whoever does five things on a Friday, Allah Ta’ala will include him among the people of Jannah: Who visits a sick person, attends a Janazah, fasts on that day, goes early for Jumu’ah and frees a slave.’

(Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith: 2771 and Musnad Abi Ya’la, Hadith: 1040. Also see Majma’uz Zawaid, vol.2 pg.169)

In another narration of Musnad Abi Ya’la, ‘giving charity’ is mentioned in place of: ‘Goes early for Jumu’ah’

(Musnad Abi Ya’la, Hadith:  1039. Also see Majma’uz Zawaid, vol.2 pg.169)
