The courage of Sayyidah Ummu ‘Umarah (radiyallahu’anha)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Please authenticate this narration.

The Prophet (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said to her:

‘From where can anyone get courage like you, O Ummu ‘Umarah (Nasibah).’

Answer

Sayyidatuna Nasibah; Ummu ‘Umarah (radiyallahu’anha) was a very courageous woman.

On one such occasion, Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) praised her bravery with the words:

‘Who is able to do what you are able to/ Who can match what you have achieved, O Ummu ‘Umarah?!’

The words in Arabic are:

من يطيق ما تطيقين يا أم عمارة؟

(Tabaqat Ibn Sa’d, vol.8 pg.414. Also see Siyar A’lamin Nubala, vol.2 pg.280)

The chain is suitable for the purpose of knowing the merits (manaqib) of people in history.

Note: The above is what I could locate. Based on this, the translation in your query is actually the understood meaning. It is also possible that it is from a different version which I have not yet located.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
