Obeying the Muslim ruler as long as he does not command sin

What is the authenticity of the following narration?

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) narrates that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“It is necessary upon a Muslim to listen to and obey [the ruler] in things he likes and dislikes, as long as he is not ordered to carry out a sin. If he is commanded to commit a sin, then there is no adherence and obedience.”

Answer

Imams Bukhari and Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith. The Hadith is therefore authentic.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 2955, 7144 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1839)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
